Eminem (Marshall Mathers) by Jessica Cadena
Eminem was born on October 17, 1972 by the Marshall Mathers in St. Joseph, MO near Kansas City. Spending the better part of his impoverished childhood shuttling back and forth between his hometown and the city of Detroit. Initially attracted to rap as a teen, Eminem began performing at age 14, performing raps in the basement of his high school friend's home. The two went under the names Manix and M&M (soon changed to Eminem), which Mathers took from his own initials. Due to the unavoidable racial boundaries that came with being a white rapper, he decided the easiest way to win over underground hip-hop audiences was to become a battle rapper and improv against other MCs in clubs. Although he wasn't immediately accepted, through time he became such a popular attraction that people would challenge him just to make a name for themselves.Eminem emerged in 1999 as one of the most controversial rappers to ever grace the genre. Using his biting wit and incredible skills to vent on everything from his unhappy childhood to his contempt for the mainstream media, his success became the biggest crossover success the genre had seen.

LAKERS BY:JOSE TOSTADO
The Lakers escalated the NBA. The Minneapolis Lakers' first season was 1947-48, when the team entered the Basketball League. A strange series of events early that year landed the Lakers the biggest prize in the game at that time-center George Mikan.
Prior to the 1947-48 campaign Maurice White, president of the American Gear Company and owner of the Chicago team, pulled the club out of the NBL. White's plan was to create a 24-team circuit called the Professional Basketball League of America, in which he would own all of the teams and all of the arenas. But the new league lasted barely a month, and the players on White's teams were distributed among the 11 NBL franchises. The first-year Minneapolis Lakers landed Mikan strictly by chance.
The Lakers were a good team even without Mikan. The club featured a fine forward named Jim Pollard and one of the better playmakers in the league in Herm Schaefer. Coaching the squad was John Kundla, who had been hired away from the University of Minnesota. But once the bespectacled Mikan joined the Lakers there was no stopping them.
Minneapolis walked away with the NBL crown that season. After winning the Western Division by 13 games, the team disposed of the Oshkosh All-Stars, the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, and the Rochester Royals. Minneapolis lost only two games during the postseason, one in the first round and one in the finals against the Royals. Mikan paced the circuit in scoring during the regular season with 21.3 points per game and was tops in postseason play with an average of 24.4 points per contest.
1986-87: A Very Magic Year
The moves paid off. Johnson won his first career NBA Most Valuable Player Award while leading the Lakers to a 65-17 record, the second-best mark in franchise history. Abdul-Jabbar, now 39 years old, chipped in 17.5 points per game, and Michael Cooper was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
The Lakers earned another matchup with the Celtics in the NBA Finals by sweeping Denver, losing just one game to Golden State, and then sweeping Seattle. Los Angeles routed Boston in the first two games of the Finals, and the teams then split the next four contests, giving the Lakers their second championship in three seasons.
Johnson earned the NBA Finals MVP Award to go with his regular-season MVP trophy. At the Lakers' championship celebration in Los Angeles, Coach Riley brashly declared that the Lakers would repeat as NBA champions in 1987-88. It was a bold statement that served to motivate the team throughout the next season.

Life now compared to the past by Alfredo Garcia
Things have changed from the past, there were certain styles that people were into that people right now might find strange. For example, people used to have afrow's and they looked very old school. Also there were people who colmed their hair sideways and thats not the only thing that people used to do. Some would dress very different than others and everyone had a certain look of their own. Life was different for these people because they could dress however they wanted but just as long as it had some style into it. there was a certain time where all the cars were almost exactly the same instead of how right now theres all kinds of cars to choose from. Also back in the days a dollar was worth a hole lot and also everything was much cheaper. At the same time though, they didnt get payed the same as how we get payed by the minimum.
The technology that we have now is much more advanced than the past if you thimk about it. Now the movies are very well made the way it looks the way it sounds and the special effects that they use to make the movies more better. The computers have more memory and even video game graphics look very real in some systems. Back in the days there wasnt that much Technology and things werent as good as how it is right now. The movies didnt have color it was just black and white and the sound didnt sound the same as right now. Also there was more racism in the past and more struggles, life was more negative back then and there would be more situations happening. Even the gangs have changed, The styles of clothing are different than the old school gangs. I guess life was much more different than right now and things have changed.

Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor by Genaro Brambila
The attack of Pearl Harbor by the Japaneses was a military strike conducted by the imperial Japaneses navy against the United States naval base in Pearl Harbor. Hawaii, on the morning on December 7, 1941. The attack was intended as a preventive attack in order to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from intefering with military actions the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands< and the United States.
The base was attacked by 353 japanese fighters, bombers and torpedo planes in two waves, launched from six air crafts. Four battle ships were sunk (two of which were raised and returned to service later in the war) and the four others present were damaged. The Japanese also sank or damaged three ships, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed; 2,402 men were killed and 1,282 wounded. The power station, shipyard, maintenance, and fuel and torpedo storage facilities, as well as the submarine piers and headquarters building were not attacked. Japanese losses were light: 29 aircraft and lost five submarinies, and 65 servicemen killed or wounded. One japan sailor was captured.
The attack came as a profound shock to the American people and led directly to the American entry into World War 2 in both the Pacific and European theater. The following day (December 8) the United States declared war on Japan. Domestic support for isolation, which had been strong, disappeared. Clandestine support of Britain was replaced by active alliance. Subsequent operations by the U.S. prompted Germany and Italy to declare war on the U.S. on December 11, which was reciprocated by the U.S. the same day.
Despite numerous historical precedents for unannounced military action, the lack of any formal warning by Japan, particularly while negotiations were still apparently ongoing, led President Fraklin D. Roosevelt to proclaim on December 7. 1941 "a day which we live in infamy".
Benifits of drinking water by Dominique Taylor
On average, the human brain weights 1.4 Kilograms (about 3 pounds). It is estimated that the brain consists of 85% water. The brain is extremely sensitive to water loss. It is said that the brain cannot tolerate even a 1% loss of water. If it were to be dehydrated to the point of being only 84%water for long, the brains would not function properly. (Remember that nerve cells in the brain are one-time-living units. They don't multiply like other cells in the body and don't regenerate). Dehydration can cause damage in the blood vessels in the brain, leading to bleeding"s

Schools need more attention and money children and teachers are suffering to teach and learn. Mothers need to act on the wrongful acts that are going on in our community. Children are not getting the education they need because of the government is holding back on the schools that are considered poor. Then the state want to base there estamation on how many corrtional faucilty to build on elementary reading skills. We need more support to our schools and neighborhoods to see why our G.P.A is dropping more than ever.
Teachers are letting kids cheat on there state achievement tests in South Central because they probally feels like what the grovernment is offering is not enough for childerns to pass. Its like childrens dont have the smarts to graduate with a excellent G.P.A no more. The government then messed up our commuinty in the so called poor areas. Government are cutting salayers and school supply money. Which is lowering our education and causing the city to loose hard, good, and motavating teachers.

Abortions by: Kimberly Munoz and Yesenia Quezada
{this baby was aborted at 7 months}
Were against abortions! The babies don't have the fault of the parents mistake. Taking someone elses life is one big mistake specially when its not planned. If you weren't ready to have a baby why not use protection. In the U.S there's two type of abortion such as a pill and in-clinical abortion. Also in the State if your under the age of 18 is required to have permission/signatures from one or both parents. Its illegal to have abortions after 2 months. 2-3 months the fetus was only about a few weeks, ody parts began to take shape. Abortion is done by pricking the child’s body parts and then cut into pieces by using a kind of special tongs for abortion (abortion pliers).
